San Antonio based ‘Whataburger’ has Healthiest Cheeseburgers, Study Claims
If Whataburger is your favorite fast food burger place…and, for a lot of Texans it IS…there’s even more good news: a new study claims that Whataburger’s cheeseburgers are healthier than their competitors.
The study, which ranked compared “standard cheeseburger options” from various chains, was conducted by Gambling.com.
Why Gambling.com, of all places, is the source of a study about healthy fast food is beyond my understanding.
Literally, since our companies' firewalls don’t allow us to go to online gambling sites, but, I can give you a couple of quotes from the people who ran the study…
“We analyzed each burger for sugar, fat, salt, and calorie content,” a press release from Gambling.com explained.
“Lower amounts of these four nutritional values are a good thing. So, the lower the quantity (of the bad stuff) the higher the healthiness score is”.
OK, so 10 being the best, the higher the score means the healthier the burger.
This graphic shows Whataburger scored an 8.4 out of 10.
In-N-Out’s cheeseburger scored just slightly below with a score of 8.2.
There’s a pretty steep drop-off between numbers two and three.
The “Checkerburger with cheese” from Checkers (known in some parts of the country as “Rally’s”) comes in third with a score of 6.3 out of 10.
Then, you got a bunch within a point of each other in places 4 thru 8: Culvers with a 5.7, Del Taco with a 5.5, Dairy Queen (5.2), and Carl’s Jr. and McDonald’s who are tied for seventh with scores of 5.0 each.
Five Guys comes in slightly under that in 9th place with a score of 4.8 followed by Wendy’s with a 4.6.
Burger King didn’t make the top 10 in the graphic but we know it came in dead last with a total of 2 out of 10 for their standard cheeseburger option.
So, take heart, Whataburger fans! You’re not eating unhealthy garbage. You’re eating the healthiest cheeseburger there is!
