They did NOT fool around with getting Darth Vader into the action on this show! Vader FINALLY lives up to all of the hype as one of the great movie villains of all time.

We’ve seen him as a precocious child. We’ve seen him as a sullen teenager/young adult. We’ve seen him as a rueful, dying father.

Finally, we see him as the kind of villain he’s always been billed as merciless, implacable, and dreadful. He represents pure malice. So evil, in fact, that it almost seems like he doesn’t deserve the redemption arc he gets in Return of the Jedi.

My understanding, at this point, is that Obi-Wan Kenobi is a stand-alone series. There’s no plan, that we know of, for a Season Two. That’s why I’m thinking there MUST be another Obi-Wan/Vader showdown in one of the next three episodes. Why? Because Vader refers to it in Star Wars: A New Hope.

“When I left you, I was but the learner,"

Vader tells Kenobi.

“Now I am the master.”

Uh…that’s not anything like the fight we just saw. Vader totally dominates Obi-Wan in every way. Poor old Obi-Wan can’t even run away, though he tries multiple times. That was an unmitigated ass-kicking. There HAS to be another fight that he’s referring to.

Although to be fair, Star Wars hasn’t always made sense, continuity-wise.

I still think there has to be another showdown coming our way. The big question will be…how does Ben get his mojo back? I’m guessing it has something to do with his old master, Qui Gon Jinn.
