Walmart has had McDonalds restaurants set up inside their super stores, practically, from the beginning. They have closed a bunch in Texas, including El Paso.

Walmart has decided to end their partnership with McDonalds and have already closed a ton of the in-store restaurants, the majority of which were in Texas.

No word yet on whether or not Walmart's in El Chuco will stay or go. Based on who is replacing them in other markets, I kinda feel like they're on the way out around here too.

There's no bad blood between the 2 corporate giants, it's just business. Subway, who have more locations inside Walmart stores than McDonalds ... (1,858 'Subs Vs. 571 Mickey Dee's) ... have also been closing down Walmart locations.

In a nutshell, Walmart hoped to lure online shoppers back into the stores by giving them a place to eat and other things to do. Many Walmart's also have optometrists, hair salons, banks and other stuff inside them.

Fast food outlets rely more and more on drive up windows and the Walmart locations don't offer those. In 2021, 90% of the McDonalds locations that closed were in Walmart stores. Another blow for McDonalds is their prices have risen 100% since 2014.

In an effort to save the food side of things, as well as the rental income they generate, Walmart are looking at other restaurants like Taco Bell and Dominoes. On top of trying to up their food game, Walmart is going through a pretty big makeover overall.

Texas Walmarts Are Getting a Major Makeover: 9 Changes to Look Out For

From high-tech to high-style, here are some changes you can expect to see at Walmart's across Texas.

New Automated McDonalds in Ft Worth, Texas Gallery:

The fact is, this McDonalds is not "fully automated", they have a smaller staff working in the kitchen filling the orders, but the counter-person, all-to-often found with a bad attitude, has been eliminated in this dining concept. This new McDonalds is much smaller and has no seating for indoor dining. This is a take-out-only concept with all staff concentrating on getting the orders right. Will it work? We'll see.
