This Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks will be facing one of their toughest opponents yet: mother nature.

The Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks will be taking special precautions to help protect them from the cold this Sunday. Temperatures are expected to plummet as low as -1F during the playoff game in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With the windchill, it could make temperatures feel as cold as -5F. Both teams are working to make sure that their players are safe while they battle it out.

According to Bloomberg, players will be wearing clothing made by WSI sports, based out of Minnesota. The subzero sportswear includes shirts, shorts, gloves and socks made of a thin polyester so it can insulate the players as it stretches tightly around them.

The company chief Joel Wiens told USA Today that they have developed a product for playing football at -20 degree windchill.

"This has been a big break for us. I’ve spent most of my life pounding away, and we’ve been successful. But over the last few years, we’ve gotten noticed by designing better and better cold-weather gear."

Sunday's game is set to start around noon, but the morning temperatures are expected to be around -7F in Minneapolis.

Even though the game is expected to be historically cold, it will still not come close to the 1967 "Ice Bowl," when the Green Bay Packers played the Dallas Cowboys. Temperatures reached -13F with a wind chill of -48F.
