We're told to use hand sanitizer so we don't get COVID - 19 and now it appears that the hand sanitizers themselves may cause serious health problems.

Throughout the pandemic, there have been several product recalls announced and now you can count certain hand sanitizers among them. One of the most basic and simple ways to help keep the virus at bay could involve using products that can be very bad for you. According to our news partners at KVIA:

Target’s “Born Basic” and Walmart’s “Scent Theory” bring the expanded list of recalled sanitizers to more than 75. The recalled brands contain methanol, a chemical used to create fuel and antifreeze. And it can make you sick if absorbed through the skin.

Wait, there's more ... the Food and Drug Administration actually has an entire freakin' list of "potentially" toxic hand sanitizers. These are just the latest two additions.

One time usage doesn't seem to pose a problem but, repeated use over a few days appears to cause a "buildup" of the toxic ingredient(s) leading to health problems that can include nausea, vomiting, headaches, tingling sensations, and blindness. Holy crap ... it sounds like COVID - 19 is actually the better option here.

Don't worry though, if you can't tell "safe" sanitizers from "unsafe" ones, you do have another option. While it may not be as convenient to have handy all the time, simple soap and water will do just as well as hand sanitizers. These two ingredients can be carried around in resealable bottles and, often, even premixed into one container for added ease.
