Two Detours to Take to Insane Inflatables 5K Due to I-10 Closures
You don't want to be late for all the insane fun on Saturday, or worse, be stuck in traffic and miss out. Here's some alternate routes to get to the Insane Inflatable 5K tomorrow!
The construction on I-10 was once again scheduled to be happening this Sunday but has now been changed at the request of New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez. The construction was changed to help the Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino.
Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino lost 19 days of racing to due an outbreak of equine herpes virus earlier in the year, and Sunday is looking to be stacked day of racing for them. TXDOT announced on Thursday that they would be changing the closure to Saturday.
Intertstate 10 will be closed in both directions on Saturday from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Executive Center to Sunland Park Drive. In addition, West Paisano Drive will also be closed from Executive Center to Sunland Park Drive.
The problem is, the Insane Inflatable 5K is this Saturday too! And if you're heading to the event from Las Cruces or the Westside of town, these closures can make your life a little more difficult.
Here are some alternate routes to make sure you make it in time to your wave:
From Las Cruces:
From I-10, take Exit 162 NM-404 also called the Anthony Gap and make a left. In about 8 miles, enter the roundabout and take the first exit to NM-213. That road becomes Martin Luther King Boulevard and you can get onto the US-54 Freeway West. The 54 becomes TX-375 East and Exit 56 Fonseca. Make a left then down to a slight right on Delta.
From the Westside:
Rather than going through the traffic, it may be better to take Transmountain. Travel West on I-10 and take Exit 6 towards TX-16 Spur/TX-375 Loop/Transmountain Road. Make a right and TX-375 becomes Woodrow Bean Transmountain Drive. Make a right onto Gateway Boulevard South and you can get onto the US-54 Freeway West. The 54 becomes TX-375 East and Exit 56 Fonseca. Make a left then down to a slight right on Delta.
