The Largest “YMCA” Dance Happened in El Paso
There's a fight might be brewing between the members of the Village People, but we will never forget the time that they broke the world record in El Paso, Texas!
In case you've missed the tea, the cop from the Village People, AKA Victor Willis, has threatened to sue any outlet that dares to refer to the Village People's 1978 hit song "Y.M.C.A." as a gay anthem.
However, the construction worker, AKA David Hodo, has hit back saying it most definitely is a gay anthem! There was an exchange of words between the two, but it's clear to say that this argument is tearing apart the Village people!
Whatever way you decide to view "Y.M.C.A", you can't deny that it is a jam; it's the song that will get anyone dancing at an event! And the song most definitely got everyone up on their feet when the Village People performed it at the Sun Bowl in 2008.
In fact, not only did everyone dance the "Y.M.C.A.", everyone broke the World Record for "Largest Y.M.C.A. Dance". According to the Guinness World Records:
The largest "YMCA" dance was achieved by 40,148 participants in an event organized by Sun Bowl Association in El Paso, Texas, USA, on 31 December 2008. Ticketing system was used for the counting. The dance lasted 5 min 34 sec and was sung live for the attempt.
