The El Paso Zoo Is Officially Open! Get To Know Their Big Cats
It's been quite a while but the El Paso Zoo is finally open! Their announcement was made late last month with details of how social distancing guidelines will be enforced. The El Paso Zoo Society also released a video ahead of their grand re-opening to detail the new changes you can expect to see.

Sat-Sun: 9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Mon-Tue: Closed
If you are planning to head out to the zoo soon- let me introduce you to their big cats. As a cat lady, I know I am super excited to see their big cats, and I'm expecially excited to see their new tiger! El Paso, let me introduce you to Ollan!
The El Paso Zoo also has three lioness, and they're all sisters! Their names are Malika, Zari and Kalliope!
The El Paso Zoo had a Pride of Lions when Rudo was still with us, but he passed away August 1, 2020.
He had a spinal cord lesion on his neck. As the Support organization for the El Paso Zoo, they were able to secure an opportunity where Rudo would be transferred to Hospitals of Providence, with a team of zoo keepers and vet staff to receive an MRI.
This helped in the diagnosis and would create the next course of action for the quality of care given to him. Staff worked around the clock to care for Rudo and keep him pain free and comfortable but despite their best efforts Rudo passed.
Rudo's memory will live on at the El Paso Zoo. However, you can still see the lioness's and their new tiger Ollan! Don't forget your mask!
