In the event of an emergency, it's always best to be prepared. Whether it be a natural disaster like a tornado or a hurricane. or a global pandemic like the one we're currently in- it's better to err on the side of caution. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have great guidelines to follow should there be an emergency- but what about a zombie apocalypse? Well, they have that too!

If you've noticed recently, many media outlets are reporting that the CDC is offering tips in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Upon checking out the CDC website, I noticed that the CDC actually put out these tips back in 2011. Looking back at 2011, I wonder: what prompted the CDC to put forth these tips. I wonder what was one of the most watched shows in 2011? Could it have been... "THE WALKING DEAD"?!

Yup, in 2011 "The Walking Dead" had just finished it's first season and it's second season premiere brought in 7.3 million viewers. The show was highly influential at the time so it shouldn't surprise anyone that at the time the CDC decided to ease everyone's minds and release a guide to survive a zombie apocalypse.

The tips on the CDC website have the normal ones you'd see for other disasters like having water, food, medications and first aid supplies, among others, at the ready. The CDC reports that if zombies indeed started roaming the planet, they'll be at the ready to conduct an investigatoin and provide assistance.

However, as a lover of "The Walking Dead" I think we all know how it ended for the CDC in the show.
