A chocolate recall issued in December has been raised to the highest danger level because of a surprising, potentially deadly, ingredient that most people are fine with.

Cal Yee Farms were ordered to recall dark chocolate walnuts, yogurt-coated almonds and butter toffee following an FDA inspection of their facility that found they could have "undeclared milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 and almonds" in them.

While those items aren't exactly "deadly", they can be for certain people with certain allergies. Since the ingredients aren't properly listed, someone who is allergic to one or all of them could accidentally ingest them and food allergies are no joke.

Cal Yee Farm LLC first recalled an array of chocolate and yogurt-covered products on December 12, 2024, along with other dried fruit, nut mixes, and snacks "because they may contain undeclared milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 and almonds."

"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 and almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products," the company said in a statement at the time of the recall. - ABC

You can see all the products recalled as well as the sizes, label info and UPC codes for them on the Food and Drug Administration website.
