A police officer in Texarkana got a call about a "vicious dog" being spotted and went to investigate. What he found wasn't what he expected. Texarkana police officer Travis Frost responded to a call on Sunday about a "vicious dog" in a neighborhood. When the officer arrived, he found an intimidating animal in front of him- an American bully. Bullies are usually confused with pitbulls, which the officer did confuse the dog for. The dog was laying on someone's front porch in the neighborhood, so the officer left the door of his cruiser open in case he needed to jump back into the vehicle if the dog became aggressive. Instead, what the dog did shocked the officer.

Officer Frost whistled to the dog and the pup immediately came right to him, tail wagging. The pooch allowed the officer to pet him for a couple minutes, before he hopped right into the patrol car, deciding he wanted to hang out with the officer in the car. The officer called animal control to come and pick up the dog and while they waited he decided to snap a few photos with his new friend. The Texarkana police department posted the photos on their Facebook page and explained how their officer showed how you can't always judge a book by its cover:

"Pit Bulls have a bit of a bad reputation. Travis said that, while you should always be careful around any dog that you don’t know, you shouldn’t automatically assume that all pit bulls are bad dogs. They might be really loving like this guy was this morning."

The Texarkana Police Department was able to give an update on the lovable pooch the next day saying that the dog was microchipped but the information wasn't up to date so he didn't spend the night in the shelter. Luckily, the owner came looking for him the next day and retrieved the dog. He is now back safe and sound at his home. The police officer also initially believed the dog to be a pitfall, but many commenters on the post let them know that the dog is actually an American Bully, a different breed of dog. They are shorter and more muscular than the Pitbull, but just as lovable as the Pitbull breed. Glad to see that this story was able to have a happy ending for all involved!
