Yep, that's how big Texas is. We're closer to an ocean beach in a foreign country than we are to those in Texas or California.

If you're short on time, know that it takes just under 11 hours to drive from El Paso to San Diego and nearly 12 to get to LA. Even that is closer to the 915 than spots along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Corpus Christi is 10.5 hours away and Galveston is about 12 hours away. If you love the ocean and don't want to/can't fly, forget the domestic beaches completely and consider heading south. South of the border that is.

What Ocean Beach Is Closest To El Paso?

Believe it or not, there's a beach in Mexico that's only 8 hours from El Paso. You can drive it easily ... for that matter, local bikers often RIDE to it.

In fact, a huge motorcycle rally, the Rocky Point Rally, has been taking place there every year for over 20 years. Don't count on this year though, 'ya missed it. It takes place over Veterans Day Weekend every November when the weather there is perfect-amundo.

The rest of the year, it's still a pretty cool place to get your ocean vibe on without traveling as far as you would to stay in Texas or head for Cally. Forget anything after Texas, it's a 15 hour drive for El Pasoans just to get to Louisiana.
