Furry animals are my weakness. If you are like me and usually have a sudden urge to pet adorable furry creatures, you could land yourself into some trouble if you come across a puss moth caterpillar.

After reading about poisonous caterpillars in Illinois and Wisconsin, I had to find out if Texas was home to some of these crazy poisonous critters. After a few google searches, I found the puss moth caterpillar. Immediately this critter looks so cute and fuzzy. I want to pet the cutie but will resist.

If you touch this fuzzy caterpillar you will develop a painful rash and sting, according to poisoncontrol.org.

While the push moth caterpillar shown in the Brave Wilderness video is yellowish, this species of caterpillar can be found in a mixture of colors including gray and brownish-red. This creature thrives in green areas, so you will find them mostly in the Dallas and Fort Worth area, according to Nature's Poisons.

Nature's Poison also points out that these little creatures can't kill you but can cause you plenty of pain. They cause this pain:

When a puss moth caterpillar rubs or is pressed against skin, venomous spines stick into the skin causing a severe burning sensation and rash.

If you do come into contact with this caterpillar, do not touch it but if it happens because you can not resist the cuteness, you can receive treatment for typical rash and burning symptoms. If you start having a hard time breathing or seizures please contact 911 or call 1-800-222-1222 for immediate help.

On a lighter note, I think this caterpillar looks like the brain bug from Starship Troopers. https://youtu.be/DtTgHuGgW-c
