Texas High School Principal Commits Suicide In School Parking Lot
A Southeast high school principal is dead after committing suicide in the school parking lot.
A Southeast Texas high school principal shot himself in the head after resigning from his job moments before. Dennis Reeves, 45, was the high school principal at Kirbyville High School, just northeast of Houston. Reeves was found dead in his truck Tuesday afternoon of a gunshot wound. Police found a .38 caliber semi automatic pistol in his vehicle. They also said that the truck was still running and was in reverse but Reeves foot was on the brake preventing it from moving.
Just an hour earlier, Reeves met with the district superintendent to resign from his position at the school. It was after this meeting that Reeves went to his truck and ended his life. Police say they found no suicide note in the vehicle and only the superintendent and his assistant were left at the school. The school year ended for Kirbyville High last week.
The superintendent says about an hour after their meeting he went to leave the school and saw Reeves still in his truck. He called the police to check on him.
