Texas Has Shown A Huge Amount of Love For the Italian Plumber

Without a doubt, the most popular video game mascot has to go to Mario, the Italian plumber created by Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo in 1981. For decades he has received love from all over the world. And that love does indeed extend to Texas.

Who remembers the real life Super Mario Blocks in Houston?

The Houston artist, Neato Rodriguez, aka Neato, created these giant pixel artworks of the classic Super Mario Bros question mark blocks back in 2021. Neato would share photos of the question blocks on Instagram.

And if that wasn't cool enough, the mascot of the Houston Texans, Toro the bull, even took photos doing his best Mario pose.

How about the man who decorated his house to look like a Super Mario level?

In Dallas, Katie & Mike Miller painted their house to look like a giant Nintendo Entertainment System... and a level from the Super Mario Bros 3 NES video game. And yes there were photos of this house posted on Twitter.

How much would you spend on a copy of the original Super Mario Bros video game?

At the Dallas Heritage Auctions Comics, someone bought an authentic copy of the original 1983 copy of Super Smash Bros for a low price...only $114,000 (yeah right that's a low price). Since then people have spent even more money buying copies of the game but at the time, it was the highest anyone has ever spent on a video game.

Many local artists have shown appreciation for the Nintendo mascot; just go to the arcades & you'll see some incredible fan art of the classic Super Mario games.
