A Texas teacher has been charged with manslaughter after leaving his baby in his minivan. After discovering her, he put her in the fridge to try to revive her.

A Texas father has been charged after leaving his 6 month-old baby in a hot car for up to four hours. Michael Shannon Thedford dropped off his two of his children at day care on Tuesday with the 6 month old in the backseat and then returned home with the baby in the minivan. The father then said he came back home and took a nap, forgetting his daughter was still in the car.

According to KDFW, Thedford went into his home and took a nap for at least three hours. Thedford found the baby in the vehicle after and "placed the girl in the refrigerator for an undetermined length of time." It was only after that he called 911.

Thedford and his wife also unsuccessfully attempted CPR on the child. When deputies arrived on scene the girl was already out of the vehicle but non responsive. The temperatures in Melissa, Texas that day reached the mid 90s. Thedford is a substitute teacher at Melissa High School and is being held on a $20,000 bond.
