Behind the scenes videos from bands are some of my favorite things. I love watching bands recording albums, tour backstage crap, even gear tours. It's cool to see all the different ways that musicians can get to their goal of making their instruments sound like they want them to.

Smashing Pumpkins will issue ‘Oceania,’ their seventh studio album, on June 19. It exists as part of the band’s ambitious, 44-song ‘Teargarden by Kaleidyscope’ project, which is released in song-by-song format and has been since 2009. Yet ‘Oceania’ still stands apart as a separate piece.

Outspoken Smashing Pumpkins outspoken frontman Billy Corgan went on a rant about how music culture and ethos have been negatively affected by shows like ‘American Idol‘ and ‘X Factor‘ at a SXSW panel on March 13. Despite his distaste for such programs, the frontman said that he would certainly take a gig as a judge on one of those very shows if offered.

Smashing Pumpkins have been going back and forth over the best way to release their upcoming album ‘Oceania.’ Now comes word that there is a game plan, which Billy Corgan will announce the details of at next week’s South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

The Smashing Pumpkins‘ legacy will be honored later this year when their first two albums — 1991′s ‘Gish’ and 1993′s ‘Siamese Dream’ — will be reissued in a variety of formats, including CD, deluxe two-CD/DVD, vinyl LP and digital configurations.

Billy Corgan is known for having big musical ambitions, and now it looks like he plans to bring that attitude to the world of professional wrestling.

With new music to preview and two relatively new members in the band, the Smashing Pumpkins are scheduled to begin a 12-date U.S. tour in Los Angeles on Oct. 5. The dozen concert dates are being described as a warmup to a big year of touring in 2012, which is when the Pumpkins will release their in-progress studio album, ‘Oceania.’

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they're going to do a short "warm-up" US tour in 12 cities to get everyone ready for their full year of touring coming up next year.
