Epica Bassist Leaves Band
Just weeks after releasing the symphonically swirling ‘Requiem for the Indifferent,’ Dutch metal band Epica have parted ways with bassist Yves Huts. He had been a member of the band since the very beginning, but has decided that it is time to move on and follow a different career path that would not be sustainable if he were to remain a touring musician.

A short while ago, Adrenaline Mob, the band featuring Mike Portnoy (formerly of Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold), Russell Allen (of Symphony X) and guitarist Mike Orlando announced that their bass player and second guitarist were leaving due to prior commitments with their other bands. They also teased that they were auditioning a new bass player that people knew pretty well.

When CJ Ramone was approached a decade ago about possibly replacing Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, he declined the chance even though he took Dee Dee Ramone’s spot in the final years of the legendary punk band the Ramones. Ramone’s reason was simple: Touring with the metal band would not have been beneficial to his family, specifically his son Liam, who had been diagnosed with autism.
