A lot of incredible bands have come out of Texas and many of them fly their Texas heritage flags proudly in their album titles.

Texas has produced an amazing number of rock bands. From up and comers rockin' their local bars, clubs and backyard parties to major league acts like ZZ Top, Pantera and Don Henly, Texas is loaded with talent.

Some Texas artists work their Texas heritage into their album titles. Here are 3 of my favorites along with the stories behind them.

Sons Of Texas - Baptized In The Rio Grande. This one is an homage to where they're from, the Rio Grande valley, and where they cut their musical teeth. Guitarist Jes De Hoyos said:

"It’s where we’re from, and it’s where we were “baptized” musically. It has nothing to do with being baptized in a river". (genius.com)

ZZ Top - Deguello. The word "deguello" can mean different things like a throat slashing or a decapitation. It can also mean no quarter, a term usually meaning "no mercy".

It's also a military bugle call which was played by the Mexican army as the final assault on the Alamo began.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood. This one is pretty simple, it's the name of an old blues song that Stevie Ray Vaughan covered on the album.

The list of bands and musicians from Texas is a pretty long one. Here are some other bands that came from the lone star state.
