Stone Sour Tap ex-Dream Theater Drummer Mike Portnoy for Rio Gig!
Stone Sour have enlisted the drumming prowess of ex-Dream Theater stickman Mike Portnoy for their upcoming one-off show at the Rock in Rio Festival in Brazil on Sept. 24.
Roy Mayorga, Stone Sour’s permanent skin basher, is anxiously awaiting the birth of his first daughter and her due date happens to be, you guessed it, the same day as the band’s Rock in Rio gig. Mayorga, a friend of Portnoy’s, reached out to him personally to ask him to fill in and Portnoy was happy to oblige stating, “It’s my honor and pleasure to be able to help out my good friends in Stone Sour and my brother Roy in their time of need. It’s also an unexpected treat for me to get another visit with some of the greatest fans in the world down in Brazil.”
