It took Parkland super sophomore Deion Hankins just 10 varsity games to pick up his first FBS offers, and it came locally from UTEP and Sean Kugler, and Kliff Kingsbury from Texas Tech.

Hankins currently ranks 3rd in the nation rushing yards, and leads the state of Texas by a 400-yard margin piling up 1,755 yards and 13 touchdowns in six games this season.

The 6'1, 205 pound stud squats 600 pounds according to Kirkland, and went over the 2,000 yard career mark last week in just his 10th career varsity game.  Hankins' first career varsity carry last year as a freshman was a 51-yard touchdown run which set the tone for what is turning out to be a legendary career, and he's just a sophomore.

At this point, Hankins is unranked by most of the major recruiting sites, but will certainly earn some major stars beside his name over the next couple of months, and is also an honor student and one of the top students in his sophomore class.

Hankins will certainly join the ranks of the Ed Stansbury's, Jamar Ransom's, M.J. McFarland's, Aaron Jones', and Jack Fields' of the El Paso football world who have put up major numbers in their prep careers, and have gone onto successful college careers.

UTEP could have an early edge since Hankins is an El Paso native, and has a long generational northeast El Paso football bloodline that includes his brother Davontey who is a junior linebacker at Parkland.

Of course he's just a sophomore, but picking up a Power 5 offer along with an offer from UTEP in just 10 career games on the varsity level is an El Paso record, and further verifies Hankins is El Paso's next football star.
