Outdoor Fun In El Paso
There are many beautiful places around El Paso to hike and explore. Now, that school is out for summer, it's a great way to entertain yourself and/or your kids.
There are tons of trails, mines and caves in El Paso waiting to be explored. Here are a few of my favorites:
- B-36 crash site. A B-36 once hit the mountain. Hike to the crash site/debris field.
- The Tin Mines.
- Cottonwood Springs. Yep, springs...atop a mountain...in the desert.
- The Rio Grande. More of a walker than a climber? Walk along the river in several locations.
- The Anthony Gap cave is also very cool. In fact, there are trails all around the Anthony Gap and Las Cruces areas.
It's going to be pretty hot this summer so, I recommend that you go early in the morning. (Evening works for some trails.) Be sure someone knows where you're going, bring plenty of water and sunscreen, a cell phone and watch out for snakes!
