This Texas City is Finally Getting an H-E-B But Still No Love for El Paso
A North Texas town is finally, and shockingly, getting its first H-E-B store. But, of course, still nothing for El Paso!
Shoppers in Fort Worth, Texas will soon have another option for grocery shopping next month when they open its first ever H-E-B! While that's all good and dandy for Fort Worth (totally not jealous at all) I was a bit surprised to hear that Fort Worth didn't already have an H-E-B!
H-E-B has been deemed the number one grocery store in the Lone Star state- and according to this website, there are over 430 H-E-B stores in Texas. And up until now, of all those more than 430 stores, Fort Worth didn't have one!
Maybe it's because us folks in El Paso have never had an H-E-B, but I just automatically assumed there was already one in Fort Worth! I mean, it's FORT WORTH- it's called Cowtown for goodness sake!
Anyway, the new H-E-B in Fort Worth opens April 10 and will be competing against Walmart, Costco and Kroger- which is ANOTHER store that El Paso does not have! But I digress.
But, let's return back to the subject of H-E-B not coming to El Paso. It's an argument as old as time- or at least as long as I can remember. You're telling me that there are over 430 H-E-B's and not a single one is in El Paso?! El Pasoans are yearning- they're pleading to the HEB Gods that one day we may also be able to rejoice in their heavenly goodness.
This was over a year ago, and I'm beginning to think that they never shared this information with the rest of the H-E-B team.
What is HEB trying to hide?! Why is the rest of Texas gatekeeping HEB from El Paso? We may never get the answer. Hope you enjoy your new H-E-B, Fort Worth! For now, I'm rallying behind other Texans who instead want this store over H-E-B!
