A missile test planned for tomorrow morning, (5/18), will cause several New Mexico highways to temporarily close.

Thursday morning, between 8:00am and 9:00am, White Sands Missile Range will be testing a U. S. Army tactical missile. According to an article in the El Paso Times:

U.S. 54 and adjacent railroad tracks will be closed between Orogrande and the McGregor Range exit. U.S. 70 will be closed between San Augustine Pass and Alamogordo, and U.S. 380 will be closed between San Antonio and Carrizozo.

The article added that "people near U.S. 380 may hear an explosion from the missile’s impact" and some may see a contrail similar to those left behind aircraft. So, if you are close to the affected area(s), don't freak out!

If you plan to use these highways tomorrow morning, leave early or sleep in a little bit.
