Texas is so big and full of so many towns, that sometimes it's hard to keep track of them and their unique names! Some have names that you may think you know how to pronounce properly, but you could be wrong!
Not going to lie, Texas has some pretty weird sound town and county names that I myself am not entirely sure I know how to pronounce; there's Bexar county- which is pronounced like "bear" NOT "Bex-ar"! Then there's Mexia, Texas, which is pronounced "Muh-HAY-uh." And most recently, I learned of Pflugerville, Texas, where the P is silent and the entire town is leaning in on that joke!
Growing up in El Paso, Texas, we're pretty good at pronouncing Hispanic sounding names. Even those who aren't Hispanic have gotten good at it; but every now and then comes a name so unique that even the most Texan loving person you know might have some trouble pronouncing it- I can only imagine how an outsider traveling through the Lone Star state might feel!

According to 24/7 Wall St., César Chávez, Texas is the most mispronounced town name in all of Texas! Excuse me while I laugh in El Pasoan- where Chavez is a very common last name! But, I have to admit, growing up in West Texas, I thought I would have known how to pronounce all of these, I was wrong. These 15 Texas city names trip up even the locals, so don't feel so bad!
