Love Was in the Air at Coldplay’s El Paso Shows
Coldplay played not one, but two amazing nights in El Paso, their only stop in Texas, for their "Music of the Spheres" tour. For many fans, it was a moment in time, for others, it was the biggest night of their lives, making sure that this one stop in Texas counted big time!
As Chris Martin crooned the first notes of “Yellow,” the crowd at the Sun Bowl practically transformed into an actual field of yellow as our wristband synched up to the song in bright, flashing yellow, from the floor to the nosebleeds. Then suddenly, something amazing happened as happy couples began to celebrate their engagement- right there, in the middle of the concert! If you didn’t leave engaged, were you even really at the Coldplay concert?
And honestly, could there be a better proposal song? “Yellow” isn’t just one of Coldplay’s biggest hits- it’s a full-blown love confession set to music. With its dreamy guitar riff and lyrics like “look at the stars, look how they shine for you,” it’s practically engineered to make people cry, say yes, and immediately post it all to Instagram. Romantic? Yes. Strategic? Also yes.
The first sign that Coldplay’s El Paso stop was turning into a proposal-palooza came Friday night, when a video hit FitFamEP showing a couple getting engaged- was it during “Yellow”? It had to be! Chris Martin himself even made sure to highlight the newly engaged couple!
By night two, the lovefest had officially gone viral. A full video compilation started making the rounds, capturing couple after couple popping the question under that starry El Paso sky. Some dropped to one knee in the middle of the crowd, some even with backup dancers (okay, maybe just very enthusiastic friends). If Friday night was the preview, Saturday was the full rom-com finale.
I can tell is was during "Yellow" because of the wristbands!
Coldplay may have come to El Paso to put on a show, but they ended up helping lots of couples kick off the next chapter of their lives. As “Yellow” echoed through the Sun Bowl and the Franklin Mountains stood quietly in the distance, El Paso once again proved it knows how to make a night feel magical. Whether you were in the crowd, watching from the mountain- in true El Paso fashion, for everyone there, it wasn’t just a concert — it was a moment they’ll carry with them long after the last note faded.
Congratulations to the happy couples!
