The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley is desperately looking for people willing to adopt 11 dogs that are heartworm positive. Find out how you can help.

The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley released photos yesterday of 11 dogs that are heart worm positive. They are seeking people, fosters or animal shelters willing to donate their time and money to help nurse these dogs back to life. Here is what they had to say about the 11 dogs:

The ASCMV will waive the fees associated with the adoption/micro chipping of these dogs. In return the ASCMV must learn the new owners plan to treat the animal’s serious condition. All of these dogs will be altered before they are adopted/rescued.

Heartworm disease is a potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms living in the arteries of the lungs and occasionally in the right side of the heart of dogs and cats. It is transmitted by infected mosquitos and it can be prevented by simply taking a preventive a month.

If you are interested in adopting one of these loving and sweet dogs, you can call the Animal Services of the Mesilla Valley at (575) 382-0018. You can also visit them and see the dogs in person at 3551 Bataan Memorial West in Las Cruces. They are open Monday through Friday 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
