Las Cruces Public schools are allowing a staff member, other than a uniformed police officer, to carry a gun.

Last May, the school board voted to allow school security guards to carry concealed weapons, as long as the superintendent signs off on it. LCPS superintendent Greg Ewing did, saying:

"The board still has the authority to override any decision I make on those." "I've publicly said we don't like any weapons in schools or bullets flying; we want to teach. But we have armed Todd (Gregory), and we have our armed SROs (School Resource Officers) in each building, and even in this building, we have an armed officer in with us now." - Las Cruces Sun - News

These days, I think, any school employee should be allowed to carry if they've been properly trained and have a concealed carry license. What do you think?
