Las Cruces now has a park where model plane aficionados can hang out, talk planes and, most importantly, fly them!

The park has 2 runways and pilots must be members of the Academy Of Model Aeronautics to use it. Mesilla Valley Model Airplane Club members can access the park anytime if they purchase a gate key. For more info, call 575-202-7400.

Solid Waste Administer Klaus Kemmer told the Las Cruces Sun-News they also accept clean waste at the park, (formerly the Old Foothills Landfill), which they mulch and give back to the community for free. An archery range is set to open soon as well.

El Paso used to have a model plane and vehicle facility along McCombs Road in the Northeast. It was closed years ago and, as far as I know, there is no longer anyplace here in El Chuco dedicated to flying or driving model vehicles.
