The Buzz Adams Morning Show crew took a field trip last week to Relaxe, El Paso’s first-ever indoor axe throwing venue located at 808 Montana Ave.

The concept, as explained by CEO and founder Julian Huerta, came after visiting different axe throwing venues across America and wanting to bring the experience to El Paso. And since its grand opening almost a month ago, Relaxe has garnered an electric response from El Pasoans, who have loved this unique activity.

Much like a bowling alley or a range, Relaxe is divided up into multiple bays that are rented out for groups by the hour starting at a moderate price of $20. Oh, and did we mention they offer BYOB for wine and beer? They are open Wednesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. - 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Once entering a bay, which are named after notable streets and locations in El Paso, such as Scenic Drive, the axe throwers choose weapons of their choice and get ready to unleash their inner Volstagg from Thor or Gimli from Lord of the Rings.

After an instructional session from a Relaxe team member, you’re set to throw and compete with your friends or date. It takes a couple throws before getting used to the feel but once you land that first shot, it’s like an axe-diction that you can’t stop doing. Play against your group members in the point system or take a date and just play for fun, no matter; Relaxe simply invites everyone to experience their unique establishment.

Most will ask, how can this be safe? With proper instruction from a Relaxe team member and the rubber turf finish at the bottom of each target, axes remain on the ground after a missed throw to avoid any bounce-back.

The Morning Show battled it out for a signature Relaxe Caddy six-pack holder, with Buzz and Brandon fighting to the bitter end. Despite a late comeback by Brandon, Buzz came out the ultimate warrior in the axe throwing, landing shots and burying his axe in the wall.
