Killer Road In East El Paso Has Claimed 8 Lives
An accident on a private road in far east El Paso recently claimed 3 lives. A total of 8 people have died on that road and the law can't do anything about it.
After 3 teenagers were killed in a terrible rollover last Friday, KTSM did some research and found these other incidents:
- On May 6, 2016, Americas High School student Destinee Ochoa, 18, was killed when the Jeep she was in rolled along Jobe Road near Zaragoza.
- In January 2016, Johnny Borrego, 66, Ivan Guerrero, 59, and Ruben Betancourt Ramirez, 58 were killed on Jobe Road and two others were injured when the truck they were traveling in rolled over after missing a curve and striking an embankment.
- In May 2015, 25-year-old Laura Hurtado was killed and another woman was injured on Jobe Road when she hit a dip, causing her vehicle to leave the road and rollover. - KTSM
The road, according to KTSM, "begins near Windmere Avenue and Cherrington Road, in a desert area behind the Best Buy near Montwood and Zaragoza". Speed and/or reckless driving appear to be the cause of these accidents but ... since the road is privately owned ... law enforcement cannot patrol it or regulate what happens on it.
