It turns out the kids are all right, after all...

A study of 80's "metalhead" kids shows that they've all turned out to be well-adjusted adults who are doing just fine these days. This despite some ridiculous and idiotic attempts to paint them as future devil-worshipping, mass-murdering drug addicts back in the day. The PMRC even created a list of the bands most damaging to kids ... some of which weren't even heavy metal acts ... known as the "Filthy 15". (Most of them are also still doing well.)

The study by psychology researchers at Humboldt State, Ohio State, UC Riverside, and UT Austin showed that:

metal enthusiasts did often experience traumatic and risky “sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll” lives. However, the “metalhead” identity also served as a protective factor against negative outcomes. They were significantly happier in their youth and better adjusted currently than either middle-aged or current college-age youth comparison groups. - tandfonline.com
