Alright, so every summer we all are guilty of complaining about this El Paso summer heat. And it’s pretty valid because our summer temperatures can sometimes be pretty darn hot! However, no one can EVER compare to the heat that good ole Phoenix, Arizona is dealing with right now.

Phoenix is setting fire to the record books—literally

On Thursday, the temperature hit 110°F for the 56th time this year, smashing the previous record of 55 days set in 2023. But that wasn’t even the worst part. The high soared to a blistering 116°F, marking the hottest September 5th in history and tying for the hottest September day ever.

Honestly, that is a record and a part of history I am sure NO ONE wants to be part of! *Cries in Spanish*

Phoenix isn’t the only place roasting

Across the West, temperatures are hitting triple digits, from Arizona to California. Last year’s hottest summer? Forget it. This year is now officially the hottest summer on record, with an average temp of 98.9°F from June through August—2°F higher than last year.

The heatwave hasn’t taken a break either

As of Thursday, Phoenix has hit 100°F for 102 days in a row, breaking the old record of 76 days from 1993. And there's no relief in sight.

The culprit? Climate change

That’s according to experts. "The things that were rare are becoming less rare," says climatologist Michael Crimmins. “It’s a sign that the climate is shifting.”

It’s not just Phoenix—other desert cities like Palm Springs and Las Vegas are also sweating through record highs.

And if you're hoping for cooler fall weather, think again. Meteorologists predict that these scorching temperatures are here to stay.

So to all the Phoenix residents out there, I’m sorry we complain about our heat when its nothing compared to your heat! Stay safe out there!
