El Paso Will Never Forget The Life & Legacy of Dimebag Darrell
On December 8th, 2004 the music world lost one of the greatest guitarists that has ever lived: Darrell Lance Abbott aka Dimebag Darrell. At the age of 38, not only did he accomplish what many musicians dreamed of doing, he kept the spirit of metal alive throughout the 90s.
He will always be a legend & here in El Paso, we've been making sure that Dimebag's spirit remains forevermore...
We have many musicians & bands here that were inspired by Pantera. Especially the Pissing Razors formed back in 1994. The groove metal band were VERY much inspired, had a lot of respect for the Abbott brothers & became very close to the band as these photos with Eddy Garcia, Geo Gomez & Joe Rodriquez from the Razors prove it:
The Razors even recorded a cover of Pantera's Domination that was featured on the "Panther: A Tribute to Pantera" album.
That's not where the tributes stop of course. 333 is the ONLY Pantera tribute band in the world & they were formed right here in El Paso:
And then of course, we here at KLAQ have nothing but love for Dimebag & Vinnie...
It's been over 17 years since Dimebag's passing & 3 years since Vinnie's passing but I assure you we miss them both very much to this day. The Q will always treasure the memories we have & El Paso will always show our love & appreciation for what Pantera, Vinnie Paul & Dimebag have done for El Paso, for Texas & music.
Dimebag & Vinnie... gone but NEVER forgotten.
