Huntress’ Jill Janus Talks About Working Inside WTC Before 9/11
It's been 16 years since 9/11, a day that many Americans will never forget. For some it's a moment in history. For Huntress' Jill Janus, she was there.
Every year when September 11th comes around, many tv channels start showing documentaries on 9/11, or premiere new ones showing the day from a different perspective. A few years ago, National Geographic premiered a new documentary, “9:10: The Final Hours,” where they talk about the day before and the things that happened leading up to the tragedy on 9/11. I knew I was going to watch this, because I watch movies like this because they show you show how tragedies affected ordinary people on a personal level. You learn names, behaviors and what happened to them after the tragedy. And keep these horrific events from becoming something in the past that you can forget, or even worse, another reason for a mattress sale.
While watching the trailer for this documentary, I saw a familiar face- Huntress' Jill Janus. I had no idea that she was a DJ at the Windows of the World club on the 107th floor of Tower 1. After seeing her in promotions for the documentary, I contacted the singer to see if she would be willing to talk to the morning show to discuss her memories of those days. Jill agreed and told us a story that would haunt me for the rest of my life.
Everyone was just crying, hanging out and getting drunk. And then you started to smell, this metallic smell. And then you started to smell the bodies.
