Honor Those You’ve Lost On This COVID-19 Memorial Wall
As of the time I'm writing this, here are the COVID-19 numbers for El Paso:
- 112,259 positive cases
- 1675 deaths
- 453 people currently hospitalized
- 168 patients in ICU
- 97 patients on ventilators
In the United States we have had over 25.8 million positive cases and 433,174 deaths. If you have a family member or friend who has unfortunately passed away from COVID-19 you can memorialize them over on THIS WEBSITE.
About the Wall:
A nation that cannot grieve cannot heal. The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated our communities and has interrupted many of the rituals we have in place to deal with the pain of losing a loved one. The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is building this memorial wall as a way to lift up the faces and stories of our loved ones lost to COVID-19 and poverty. This is a space to grieve their death and to celebrate their lives; lives of family, friends, colleagues, comrades, mentors and community members. And while we remember, we also rededicate ourselves to the work of building a moral movement to heal the nation.
If you have lost someone you care about to COVID-19 or poverty, we encourage you to add their name and picture to our memorial wall so that we can collectively honor them. And we ask that you share this page so that others can see how many precious lives have been lost not only because of a virus, but because of the fissures of systemic racism and poverty that feed the virus.
