Another month, another beautiful full moon to look out for but this month’s full moon is expected to be the biggest and brightest full moon of 2022 so far.

The past two years, April’s Pink moon was a supermoon, but this April's pink moon will not be a supermoon, but it will still be a sight for locals to enjoy just in time for the Easter holiday.

Why Is It Called a “Pink Moon”

April’s full moon is known as the Pink Moon because it is associated with the springtime blossoming of the Phlox subulata plant, a pink wildflower native to eastern North America, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac

Now, the name of the Moon doesn’t have anything to do with the actual color of the moon, but some say that under the right conditions the moon can appear to have a pink hue to it.

According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, "A full moon in April brings frost. If the full moon rises pale, expect rain."

When Can I See This Pink Moon:

According to NASA, the Pink Moon will appear full from early Friday to Monday morning but it is expected to be at its peak fullness on Saturday, April 16, at 12:55 p.m.
