It's national hot dog day! Hot dogs are great, they're a staple at barbeques all over, and they just make you think of summer, which makes sense as to why all the month of July is national hot dog month and July 21st is national hot dog day. Although, fourth of July could also be considered hot dog day seeing as how almost everyone eats hot dogs that day; but I guess that day is already occupied by another bigger holiday.

As we all know, Joey Chestnut won the Nathan's hot dog eating contest for the 14th time in a row! This year, Chestnut broke his own record and ate 76 hot dogs (buns included). Over on the women's side, Michelle Lesco consumed 34 hot dogs and buns! That was actually way more than I got to do! That's right, I tried to become a hot dog eating champ.

Back in 2016, when I first started on the Morning Show, I decided to start training to be part of the women's hot dog eating contest! For some reason, I thought it was a good idea... it was not!

That morning, I came in feeling confident- and hungry! I thought I was ready and was going to dominate those hot dogs. I was wrong! Check out my failed attempt below.

I really thought I could eat all those hot dogs! It took awhile after that for me to even look at hot dogs again- I was traumatized afterwards.

So this national hot dog day, treat yourself to a hot dog, but whatever you do, don't try to pretend you're Joey Chestnut! Maybe treat yourself to a Chico's hot dog instead!
