WinterFest is just around the corner! Kicking off on November 23rd in downtown El Paso, the celebration begins with the city's annual Celebration of Lights parade at San Jacinto Plaza. For a few weeks, downtown El Paso is transformed into a beautiful winter wonderland with ice skating, hot chocolate, delicious food and all the beautiful holiday lights that are perfect for that special photo-op.

Along with all the great events and entertainment, Texas Gas Service along with the El Paso Community Foundation and El Paso Live, have come together to bring us holiday movies screening at the historic Plaza Theater for free! That's right, it's totally free! Starting on November 24th until December 29th, over five Sundays, you'll get to see some great holiday classics on the big screen. In addition to the movies, to add some special holiday cheer, organists Ken Fedorick, Richard Garven and Laurie Koval will perform on the Wyler Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ before each show. Check out the schedule below!

  • November 24
    3:30 p.m. — "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
7 p.m. — "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" (rated R for language)
  • December 1
    1 p.m. — "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"
    3:30 p.m. — "The Polar Express"
  • December 8
    1 p.m. — "Elf"
    3:30 p.m. — "A Christmas Story"
  • December 22
    3:30 p.m. — "It's a Wonderful Life"
  • December 29
    1 p.m. — "Toy Story"

Because it is a free event, it is first come first served so you're going to want to make sure you get there with plenty of time to get a seat. Make plans to attend WinterFest and to check out some holiday greats at the Plaza Theater, which, I cannot stress enough, is a beautiful place to see films.
