Along Trans Mountain Road, you will find way more than just a quick way to get from northeast El Paso to its west side.

Whether you want to entertain friends visiting from outside El Paso or you and your local homies just need something to do, there's a total vacation/staycation spot running right between northeast and west El Paso in Franklin Mountains State Park.

First of all, let's get you a place to stay. If you don't live here or have friends and family here, there are a number of lodging options near Trans Mountain road on both sides of the mountain. At the northeast base of the mountain, you have Townplace Suites, Candlewood Inn and Suites, (right next to AMC Theaters), and Holiday Inn Express.  Nearest to the western base of Trans Mountain Road you'll find a Motel 6 and a Days Inn among others.

Next, you will need food and drink. On the Trans Mountain Road/I-10 area, (west side),  you can enjoy a stop at Westsides 3rd Tavern and Union Draft House along with several other options in nearby West Towne Marketplace. If you are on the Northeast side, you will find 3 Pints Pub, Boozy Tacos and Tap and more within a mile or two of the Trans Mountain/US 54 intersection.

Those are local establishments, if you prefer franchise spots, you will find Chili's and Applebees locations on either side of the mountain along with plenty of fast food options.

Now, on to the fun stuff. Franklin Mountains State Park has a ton of stuff to do and see for all ages, interests and physical fitness levels. For instance:

There is so much to do and, while El Paso may be the 6th largest city in Texas, open country, natural scenery and wildlife abound all around and within it. (More) Especially in the area that makes up Franklin Mountains State Park. It's a cheap vacation too as, other than food and lodging costs, most of these activities are free and those that aren't are very inexpensive.
