We Finally Know Where New Texas de Brazil Steakhouse Is Opening

You ever pass by an empty restaurant building and think: when did that close?

That was exactly my reaction when I found out the Red Lobster near Cielo Vista Mall had quietly closed its doors. Somehow, I completely missed it and now, El Paso is now down to just two Red Lobster locations!

Since it’s closure, I, along with other El Pasoans, have wondered what will go in its place? Looks like the mystery is over.

As much as many of us will miss those Cheddar Bay Biscuits, this might be one replacement that's worth getting excited about.

We Finally Know What's Replacing the Old Red Lobster

According to Cielo Vista Mall's website, Texas de Brazil will be moving into the former Red Lobster building, finally answering the question El Pasoans have been asking since the restaurant quietly closed its doors.

While Texas de Brazil announced back in March that it was coming to El Paso, the company had kept its exact location under wraps- until now. An official opening date has not yet been announced, but the location reveal is the clearest sign yet that the project is moving forward.

Why Texas de Brazil Is Worth Getting Excited About

If you've never been to Texas de Brazil before, it's a very different experience than your typical steakhouse.

Instead of ordering a single entrée, diners are served continuously by gauchos who bring a variety of fire-roasted meats directly to the table, slicing everything from steak and lamb to pork, chicken and Brazilian sausage right in front of you.

The restaurant is also known for its expansive salad area, hot side dishes and desserts, making it the kind of place many people save for birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions.

While El Paso has no shortage of great steakhouses, Brazilian churrascarias are still relatively uncommon here, making Texas de Brazil a unique addition to the local dining scene.

For now, there's still no official word on when the doors will open. But after months of wondering what would become of one of Cielo Vista's most recognizable empty restaurant buildings, it's exciting to finally have an answer.

Sure, we'll always have fond memories of those Cheddar Bay Biscuits, but this feels like a pretty delicious next chapter.
