An El Paso pilot was just named "Captain" for a major United States airliner at a crazy young age.

Jordan Wright, a pilot from El Paso, Texas, began flying while he was still attending Coronado High School on the west side. Inspired  by family members and friends who were pilots, Jordan enrolled in the Red Arrow Flight Academy during his senior year at Coronado.

Red Arrow Flight Academy is located at the Santa Teresa International Jetport in Santa Teresa, New Mexico on El Paso's west side. For more info, click here.

After flight school, Jordan flew small cargo planes for Sierra West Airlines, then moved on to El Paso based ATI Jet, and Spirit. He has now become one of the youngest pilots to be named "Captain" with United Airlines ... he's only 26.

Now as Captain, he said his responsibilities are different. As Captain, he is now in charge of making sure a plane is safe and ready to fly.

"The captain overseeing the entire operation, making sure the flight is legal to go, it's safe to go, looking at the flight plan, the flight released, making sure that we're going to, we got everything we need, that the plane is taken care of maintenance-wise, that it's safe," Wright said. - kfoxtv

At Red Arrow, you can train to be a private pilot, earn a commercial pilot certificate, get an instrument rating, become a certified flight instructor and more. They also have a special rotor - transition program for both military and private helicopter pilots.
