New Video Showcases El Paso Area Missions

There are many missions scattered around Texas and a couple of the oldest ones are right here in El Paso County.

A new video about El Paso's Mission Trail will soon be released nationwide to attract visitors from all over to see for themselves the historic wonders in and around El Paso.

These missions are not only among the oldest in the state, they are home to the oldest churches in Texas with masses still being celebrated today.

Filmed this summer by local production company Leo Marketing, the full documentary details the history of the missions while urging visitors to step outside El Paso's city limits and stand in both the past and the present.

The video shows off the mission's and the overall area with its iconic architecture, stories from local historians and a peek at what visitors can expect when visiting the area in addition to the missions themselves.

El Paso County produced the video to showcase the missions and encourage visitors. It's the first of it's kind and will be shown all across the country, check out the trailer ...

What Missions Are In El Paso County?

• The Ysleta Mission - According to their website, La Misión de San Antonio de Ysleta del Sur/Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish was founded in 1682.
• The Socorro Mission - While founded in 1691, the current mission was dedicated in 1843. Learn more here.

The missions are open to the public but are, again, active churches. Please be respectful of church services or activities that may be taking place when you visit.
