After the weekend's debacle over the first date at Chili's, El Pasoans have been weighing in on what counts as a good or bad first date spot. The woman's post on Twitter went viral, and even the Chili's Twitter account responded to the discussion.

From there, people started discussing some great first-date ideas that never go out of style. Using some people's comments and ideas we thought of as well we compiled a list of great hidden gem first-date ideas.

A first date doesn't have to be expensive or to a place well-known or somewhere you go all the time. But even if it is, that's okay. A first date should be something that's comfortable for you and for your date.

Chico's- You know the food is going to be good and the relaxed atmosphere will put you and your date at ease. Chico's is a great place to finished up your date after an activity, like the movies or something else.

Whataburger- Another cheap dining option but still a great place to go. My last date we had a fun activity that involved touring downtown then after we were both starving and went to Whataburger. It was a great way to end a fun evening.

Scenic Drive or Tom Lea Park- This option is more for any beautiful or scenic-looking spot in El Paso. Go for a drive, park, and then have a picnic with your date. This is a great way to make sure your date goes uninterrupted and you're able to really spend quality time with the person you're interested in.

Downtown- Park in San Jacinto Plaza and take a stroll through downtown El Paso. My ex-boyfriend used to live downtown and one of our favorite activities was just walking around downtown together in the evening. We always found new little restaurants to try, plenty of fun shopping, and just got to spend quality time together.

Walk Dogs At A Local Shelter- This is a great way to show you have a big heart and are into exercise. Plus, there are plenty of rescues in town who would love the extra hands to help relieve some of these dog's energy. And who knows, you may find your new furry family member in the process.

Stargazing- Okay, this is a little scary for a first date if you've never met the person before so maybe use this as a second date idea. Head out to the desert, bring a blanket and some snacks, and get ready to see the stars. This is another great activity where you won't be interrupted, it's cheap, and you get to know each other a lot better.
