DirecTV is Getting a Little Shady With Their DVRs Now — Don’t Fall For Their Scam
Earlier this week I noticed that AMC would be showing Ghostbusters 1 and 2 back-to-back on Thursday. My daughter wanted to see them, so I set them to record on my DVR. I should say, I TRIED to set them to record on my DVR. I tried to set it to record the same way I do with every other show I want to DVR ... even shows that are on AMC like Walking Dead or Preacher. But, when I did, the guide didn't give me the "record" option. Instead it game me a "rent" option.
That's right. DirecTV, the same company I pay a bill to each month, tried to fool me into renting a 30-year-old movie that was already playing for free on a basic cable channel I already pay for. At $3.99. Just so I can record it on the device they gave me!
As it turns out, there's a workaround but, as you'll see in this video, it's pretty obvious that DirecTV is counting on some idiot (like me) not figuring it out and springing four bucks for content they've already freaking paid for.
I've got to say...pretty sneaky, Direct TV.
