Fingers crossed monsoon has some chill in it this summer.

Last year’s overly-active rainy season made for a particularly adventurous and memorable July evening when a torrential downpour damaged the road leading up to and out of the amphitheater.

The sudden deluge forced the cancellation of that night’s concert and stranded everyone for a good while.

We ended up having to relocate the event to the Convention Center Plaza for the rest of the summer, but just know we’re prepared for whatever curve-ball the El Paso weather wants to throw at us.

Start practicing your grito and ajua because we’re going to put a little "tan-tan" in your life on the first night of the coolest free music series in town.

The decade-long Thursday night tradition gets underway May 12 with Mariachi Los Arrieros.

The homegrown troupe has performed all over El Paso and the U.S. and has shared the stage with the likes of Vicente Fernandez, Pepe Aguilar, and so many others.

As always, they will perform in the traditional formal charro garb. You know what that means: sombrero, super sexy tight pants, and a short fitted jacket.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. with Tony Ramirez on the patio, and craft beer, cocktails, and food trucks in the cool shade of McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre.

Admission is free on a first-come first-served basis.
