After an incident last night at the Concordia Cemetery, a cemetery official reached out to KLAQ to get a message to Pokemon Go users who want to catch them all there.

This week I wrote an article about places you can catch Pokemon with the Pokemon Go app that are just plain wrong. Some of the places the article lists are the 9/11 memorial, Holocaust museum, restricted areas on military bases and cemeteries. The article questions whether some places that are on the app should be made off limits.

Last night, some gentlemen decided to venture to our local Concordia cemetery to try and find some ghost Pokemon found more commonly at cemeteries. Unfortunately, it was after hours and they were filming the Travel Channel show Ghost Adventures at the cemetery. Here's what one of the men wrote on the Pokemon GO El Paso TX Facebook page:

Public service announcement to all Pokemon trainers. Recently a lot of us have been going to a lot of places we've never been before to catch Pokemon and be the best there ever was. Tonight I experienced something that I hope no one else has to experience in that everyone else is smarter than I am and their Adventures. Tonight I went to a cemetery to try and catch ghost type Pokemon with a couple other trainers and hopped over a fence in order to enter. After entering the cemetery we heard someone yelling at us. Unsure of who was yelling or why we continued into the cemetery and found ourselves surrounded by security. Security was very unhappy that we had broken into their Cemetery after hours and called the sheriff's department to come speak with us. They wanted to press full charges and we were subject to arrest. This was not a game to them. This was not funny to them. They don't care about why we were there. We were reckless and almost ended up in a jail cell because of it. Don't make the mistake that we did. Luckily the police went to bat for us and convince the security guard not to arrest us and have it taken to jail for the night. This was a very foolish thing for me to do. Don't make the mistake we did. Be smart. Go where you're allowed to go when you're allowed to go there. Good luck to everyone.

A representative for the Concordia Cemetery contacted KLAQ to clarify about the situation and let Pokemon Go users know what they can and can't do at the cemetery.

Pokemon Go users are more than welcome to come and "catch them all" on THE grounds DURING CEMETERY HOURS. If users do try to get onto cemetery grounds after hours, they are advising people they will be arrested and go to jail.

The cemetery is open during the summer from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and players are more than welcome to come and attempt to catch Pokemon on the grounds. As long as players are respectful of the graves and the hours of operation, Pokemon Go can be played on the grounds. Concordia Cemetery has a rich history and the Concordia Heritage Association would love to have more people come out and discover this Texas State Historical Site.

One of the gentlemen who was caught on the grounds last night spoke to KLAQ and let us know that he was caught up in the Pokemon excitement and realized his error.

We never meant any harm and want to make up for our transgressions. We want pokemon go to bring people together and bring happiness.

The men are currently working with the Concordia Heritage Association to organize a fundraising event for them that will invite Pokemon Go users out to the cemetery. The event will be held July 22nd from 8:30 pm. to 11 p.m. Everyone, including Pokemon Go users are invited to come out for a ghost tour, a Pokemon Go hunt and to help raise money for the cemetery. The event will be $15 a person. Check out more details at their Facebook Event Page.

Go out there, enjoy the cemetery and catch that Haunter or whoever you happen to find! Be the very best and catch them all! Responsibly that is.
