Sometimes the best way to know you've been accepted by a team is when they start making fun of you.

That's apparently the case for El Paso Locomotive's newest player, Cristo Fernández, who recently opened up about life with the club and how his teammates have made him feel right at home.

While speaking with PEOPLE, Fernández had nothing but praise for the atmosphere he's found in El Paso.

Cristo Fernández Says El Paso Locomotive Feels Like Home

Fernández said he's grateful to be part of a team with "good vibes all around" and spoke about how much he's enjoying being back in a locker room environment.

"I'm grateful to be on a team where there's good vibes all around," he said, adding that he's missed playing soccer every day and being around teammates.

For Fernández, who officially joined El Paso Locomotive earlier this year, it's clear the transition has been a positive one.

El Paso Teammates Haven't Let Him Get Too Famous

Of course, Fernández isn't exactly your typical soccer player.

In addition to his playing career, he's appeared in major productions and built a worldwide fanbase through his acting work. But according to Fernández, his teammates aren't exactly starstruck.

In fact, they're doing the opposite.

After getting hit during a recent match, Fernández joked that one teammate immediately accused him of acting.

I'm grateful they just take the piss out of me. The other day I got hit, injured when playing and then at the end someone was saying, 'He's just acting, he's doing dramas.'

In El Paso, that's probably the biggest sign he's become one of the guys!

Why The Locker Room Atmosphere Matters

Anyone can sign a contract with a new team. Feeling comfortable is another story.

That's why Fernández's comments stand out. More than talking about soccer, he kept returning to the people around him- the teammates, the energy, and the environment that's helped him settle into life with Locomotive.

For El Paso fans, that's probably good news. It sounds like Fernández isn't just happy to be playing soccer again.

He's happy to be doing it here.

And if his teammates are already giving him a hard time, it sounds like he's fitting in just fine!
