City Officials Declare Bronco Swap Meet “Unsafe”
The Bronco Swap Meet has been shut down until Bronco officials can get a laundry list of violations corrected.
A fire last August brought ... literally ... a lot of heat on the Bronco Swap Meet. While investigating the cause of the fire, a large number of code violations and safety hazards were discovered, prompting the city to shut the place down. El Paso Fire Department Chief, Mario D’Agostino said:
“We are at a point now where we have numerous violations all piled up at once so we are trying to work out the best way to make it a safe environment. There’s dozens. Just fire alone is dozens. They are anywhere from electrical to gas code. There are numerous violations. - KFOX
For decades, generations even, El Pasoans have flocked to the Bronco to buy and sell things or, just to spend a weekend afternoon wandering around, enjoying treats and cold drinks. No word yet on when it may reopen but, the Bronco's managers and city inspectors are working hard together to make that happen sooner than later.
