Chavo Guerrero Jr. Not Returning to El Paso in Feb 2020
Despite an earlier media report, longtime pro wrestler Chavo Guerrero Jr. will not be returning to El Paso in February to wrestle for Lucha Global. The local pro wrestling promotion owned by Sammy Santana had mentioned on social media that Guerrero had signed an exclusive contract to perform for the company. However, due to a misunderstanding in the verbal agreement, the deal fell through.
"I love El Paso," Guerrero told 600 ESPN El Paso. "The Guerrero name is strong in El Paso and when I come back to town, I want to do it right."
For now, the 49-year old who resides in Los Angeles is preparing for the final season of the popular Netflix series GLOW, which will be in production for the next four months. Guerrero has enjoyed the transition from an in-ring performer to becoming a creator behind the camera. Once GLOW completes production, Guerrero has plenty of options between wrestling, film, and television. He still wrestles about 20 shows a year around the world as an independent contractor. His last appearance in El Paso was a few years ago when he joined Rey Mysterio for a special show at the Coliseum. He has even introduced his own craft beer, Los Guerreros Mexican Style Lager, which is brewed by Covina, California-based Alosta Brewing Company.
Although Santana was hoping to bring back the former WCW and WWE superstar, he is still excited about his new company, which he started three months ago. Santana is originally from Puerto Rico, but he has been associated with professional wrestling since 2006. Lucha Global's next show will be on Saturday, January 18th at El Maida Shriners, 6631 Alabama.
